BAR GAME TRAINER

Learn Beyond All Reason's controls the way skills are actually built: one piece at a time, then combined. Everything here uses BAR's real GRID keybinds, so what you practise is what you play.
FUNDAMENTALSStart here. Ten drills covering selection, movement, formations, queues, and combat orders like Fight vs Move.
HANDS ON KEYSKeyboard-only control: group recalls, selection algebra, health filters. Mouse selection is disabled, the constraint is the teacher.

SELECTION

LMB clickSelect unit (click empty ground to deselect)

Shift + selectAdd to selection

QSelect all units in view matching your current selection

CONTROL GROUPS

Ctrl + 0-9Create unit group from selection

Alt + 0-9Create auto-group: sets the selected unit types as that group. Newly spawned units of those types join automatically
Alt + `Remove the selected unit types from their auto-groups

MOVEMENT

RMB clickMove order (on a hostile: Attack. On a friendly: Guard)
RMB dragFormation move: draw a line, arc, or full circle and units spread evenly along it
Ctrl + moveMove in formation at the slowest unit's speed
Alt + moveAssume formation at point: high-HP units front, each at own speed
Shift + orderQueue order after current orders
Space + orderInsert order at the front of the queue
SStop: clear all orders and halt

BATTLE

A + LMBAttack the clicked hostile, or attack-ground on empty terrain
A + LMB dragAttack line or arc: hostiles under your drawn path split among your units. Over empty ground, units bombard points along it
Ctrl + A + dragArea attack: every hostile in the circle gets assigned
F + LMBFight (attack-move): advance and engage anything detected en route
F + LMB dragFight along a line formation
P + LMBPatrol between here and the clicked point, engaging in fight-mode. Shift adds patrol waypoints
G + LMBGuard the clicked friendly: follow and protect it
Esc / RMBCancel an armed command

ECONOMY (Economy track drills)

RMB on wreck/buildingReclaim it (with a constructor selected). Shift queues more
RMB drag from wreckArea reclaim: everything in the circle

Build barAppears with a constructor selected. Click a building, click the map. Shift keeps placing. Mex needs a metal spot (grey diamond)

KEY BEHAVIOUR TO LEARN

Move vs FightUnits on a plain Move keep walking and only fire at what happens to pass in range. Units on Fight stop, chase, and destroy what they detect. Move an army through enemies and it dies; Fight it through and it clears them

Browsers reserve some shortcuts: Ctrl+1-9 switches tabs and Ctrl+W closes the tab, and these cannot be intercepted by a normal web page. Use Focus mode (fullscreen keyboard capture, Chrome and Edge) for control group creation and map-wide matching select. On Linux Firefox, Ctrl+Q may quit the browser. On Mac, Cmd works as Ctrl for clicks. Keybinds match BAR's default GRID keyset. This site records anonymous usage events (pageviews, drill starts and completions) to guide development; no personal data is collected unless you submit your email for updates. TRAINING DRILLS

Training is split into tracks: master each skill in isolation, then synthesis challenges make them work together. Drills unlock in order within a track; tracks are open in parallel. Stars: finish = 1, beat silver = 2, beat gold = 3. The sandbox is always open.
